Recreation Boards

 

 

The Municipal District of Northern Lights No. 22 has recreation agreements with the Town of Manning and Town of Grimshaw.  Funding for the Town of Peace River is under the New Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2007 and may be used for recreation.

The municipality provides funding for the following community recreation boards and facilities:

Deadwood Hall (NE 20-89-22-W5M)

Located seven miles east of Highway 35/690 junction.  Managed by Deadwood Community League – contact Eva Chambers 836-2433

Dixonville Community Hall (NE 12-87-24-W5M)

Located south end of the Hamlet about a quarter mile west of Highway 35. Managed by LIFE Agricultural Society – contact Gladys Bye 780-971-3923

Events:  Spring Dance, Dixonville Sports Day, Halloween Dance, Annual Fall Supper, Oldtimers Dance, Pre-Christmas Craft Sale, New Year’s Eve Dance, FCSS

Hawk Hills Community Centre (NE 8-95-21-W5M)

Located eleven miles east of Highway 35 on Secondary Highway 692.  Managed by Hawk Hills Ag. Society – contact Janice or Leo Nemecz 836-2040

Events:  Halloween Party, Christmas Party, Quilt Show, Quilt Group once per week-Mondays in winter months only. Exercise room-requires a membership, Fitness group-meets every Thursday, Community Picnic Day, Covered skating rink in the winter months.  

Hotchkiss Community Hall (NW 12-93-23-W5M)

Located along Highway 35 about ten miles north of Manning past the Hotchkiss River Bridge.  Managed by Hotchkiss Community Club – contact Roberta Vandemark 780-836-2278

Keg River Hall (NE 21-101-24-W5M)

Located in the Hamlet of Keg River about fourteen km. west of Highway 35 on the Post road.  Managed by Keg River Community Hall Association – contact Janice Freeman 780-981-2262

Lac Cardinal Hall (SW 15-84-25-W5M)

Events:  Spring, Harvest & Ukrainian New Year Dances, Christmas, Easter & Hallowe’en Parties, Weddings, Receptions and Pot Luck Suppers, Lac Cardinal Recreation Association Meetings, 4-H Club Meetings

Warrensville Hall (NW 24-84-24-W5M)

Located 8 miles north of Grimshaw, at Highway 35/737 junction.  Managed by the Warrensville Sports Society – contact Tim Gayton 780-332-2404; or the Hall 780-332-4875 messages will be returned.

Events:  Community Socials every second month, Spring Dance with live country bands, Receptions, Reunions, Weddings, Skating Rink. Ball Diamonds. Internal PA sound system for meetings, music or any public speaking events.

Weberville Hall (SW 1-85-22-W5M)

Located twelve miles east and two miles south of Highway 35/686 junction, or eight miles north of Highway 2/743 junction.  Managed by the Weberville Community Club – contact Joan Jensen 780-624-8389
